Back in the fall, I got the pleasure of photographing The Fieldtop House Airbnb in Arden, NC. This quiet location would be the perfect spot to stay if you're exploring the Asheville area as a couple or with a few friends. I love the green exterior and the double porches - complete with rocking chairs and a swing!
Inside, the home is thoughtfully and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is spacious and includes coffee supplies and bar seating. And did you notice the blueberry muffins on the counter? Hosts that leave tasty treats for their guests get an extra gold star in my book!
From the kitchen, the space flows into the dining and living areas. I loved the chandelier hanging over the dining table and the decor displayed on the floor to ceiling shelfs. The living room had a gorgeous stone fireplace, comfy couches, and a large flat screen tv. And while I appreciate a good styled fireplace hearth as much as the next person, nothing compares to a working fireplace that you can turn on with the touch of a button - like the one in this living room!
To round out the first floor, there is a bedroom with a queen bed and adjoining full bathroom.
My absolute favorite part of this house is the upstairs master suite. The stairs wind around a lovely set of white shelves and take you into the bedroom.
The numerous windows fill the room with stunning, natural light. A flat screen tv is perched on a distressed mantel and faces both the plush loveseat and the queen bed.
But wait - there's more (how's my infomercial impression?)! The master bathroom is just as lovely. The host says it was spa-inspired, and I certainly got that vibe. I love the lantern light fixture that hangs over the jacuzzi tub.
I asked Jenni, the host of The Fieldtop House, a few questions about hosting and what she hopes her guests experience during their stay:
How long have you been hosting and what got you interested in doing it?
I have been hosting for a little over a year. Honestly, it was never something that was on my radar until my husband and I saw a home listed for sale with a garage apartment Airbnb already up and running as part of it! We then started doing some research and realized very quickly that this could be a huge blessing for our family. Now we run two Airbnbs out of both the garage apartment and the main house as well.
What kind of experience do you hope guests have at your home?
I hope my guests experience a calm environment to come back to at the end of the day and unwind. Somewhere that feels like home, but at the same time I want to make sure I have features that wow them enough to make them want to return some day and tell others about it.
If your guests could only do/see one thing in the Asheville area, what do you think it should be? What if they could only go one place to eat?
It would probably have to be the Biltmore Estate. I tell all my guests that is a must! If they could only go one place to eat, I would have to tell them to go to Chestnut downtown. It's wonderful!
What's your favorite part about hosting?
My favorite part about hosting is the sweet messages I get from guests letting me know how much they loved our place. Some people say the sweetest things and it makes me feel so good to know I had a part in making their honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, extra special!
What's your favorite area of the home?
My favorite area of my home would have to be the bathroom! Haha. I love the spa-like experience and the jetted jacuzzi tub! I honestly miss it now that we don't live in the home ourselves anymore.
If you're looking to visit the Asheville area soon, or if you live nearby and need a change of scenery, I'd recommend checking out The Fieldtop House on Airbnb. If you do, please let me know if the muffins taste as good as they look!
